Birmingham Based Classical Singer

Biography

Jacqueline was born in Chesterfield where, from an early age, she developed a keen interest in the performing arts. As well as studying singing, Jacqueline has studied drama and has had extensive tuition in dance. She began dance lessons at the age of three and made her first stage appearance just a year later, in the Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield.

Finding her stage feet in dance shows and musicals, Jacqueline formed a strong love of the stage and theatre life where her dedication has remained, though in varying forms. Although Jacqueline started life on stage, performing in musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (for which she was co-choreographer) and more recently Return to the Forbidden Planet, she later moved into the orchestra pit. There she remained, playing either the viola or the clarinet, until her love of singing became too much to ignore and she returned stage side to appear as the Sorceress/Spring in Dido and Aeneas in 2003.

She graduated from Hull University with a B.A. Joint Honours in Music and French in 2005 and then moved to Birmingham where she is currently studying for a Masters in Musical Performance at Birmingham Conservatoire, under the vocal tuition of Rita Cullis.

During her studies Jacqueline has had the privilege of working with some of the UK’s leading coaches and conductors including; Stephen Barlow, Jane Robinson, Jeffrey Skidmore, Paul Spicer, Carl Penlington-Williams, Helen Yorke, Robin Bowman, Susan McCulloch, Adrian Thompson and Richard Jackson.

Jacqueline performs regularly throughout the Midlands as both soloist and chorister in venues such as St Philip’s Cathedral and Symphony Hall, Birmingham, and has just finished recording a CD with the Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir. As well as doing concert performances, Jacqueline enjoys performing at more intimate gathering such as weddings and many other private functions.
